friends we know and friends we don't

There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven:                                                                                   a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot...         -Ecclesiastes 3:1-2

CrossBridge Church is closing.

Our last meeting will be held on Easter Sunday, April 4, 2010.

The reasons we need to close are many. But the primary reason is that Dave (pastor) needs to get a real job. Both in finances and energy, his family has paid too high a price. At this point in time the next step in following Jesus is to shut the doors.

Through the sadness of this situation, we are still thankful for the way God used this small church in the past three years. We are deeply honored to have been able to serve God and others here in Bay County. Thanks be to God.

CrossBridge has been characterized by making the teaching of Jesus practical: being the hands and feet of Jesus on earth. So we were a host site for Angel Food Ministries (which will NOT be discontinued) had an active food pantry and co-sponsored the 12 Cars of Christmas (along with 19th St. Auto Center and Professional Auto Body). In the last three years approximately 50 needy families received a working automobile. For a season we also sponsored "The Bridge Venue" where youth congregated, gyrated and acted like young folks.

CrossBridge was a place where people could be themselves. We have always tried to accept people the way they are and help them follow Jesus. Lots of churches get hung up on issues like tatoos, dress code, or if someone has certain habits like smoking or drinking. We just never cared about these things. Jesus said not to judge, so we did our best not to.

We never owned a building and only had a permanent location for a year. We rented facilities like the cafeteria at Oakland Terrace Elementary School because we don't think that God wanted us to spend a whole lot of money we don't have on a building that only gets used once a week. So we used whatever money is left over after paying the bills to help those in need.

Relationships are very important to us. So we meet together in homes and restaurants and coffee shops. We only have one public gathering each week so we can spend time with our families and friends. We believe that we are the church all the time, whether we are at church or not.

We hope you will enjoy our site, and if you've not been to CrossBridge yet, you'd better hurry. Even though we'll be closing soon, we would welcome you. It may be a different kind of church than you've experienced before.

We meet at 10am on Sundays. After Easter you'll be able to find some of us at EastGate

But...

Angel Food Ministries

will continue!!

Some people have expressed concern, but we have no intention of discontinuing our involvement with Angel Food Ministries. Our volunteer staff is strong and not dependent solely on volunteers from CrossBridge. So don't worry! Also, we will leave this website up so that you can continue to easily access the information you need regarding Angel Food Ministries. It remains our honor to serve you in this way!
